HVAC & Plumbing FAQs
When considering a problematic hot water heater, there are a few signs that could mean a replacement would be better than a repair:
- Age - Is your water heater more than 10 years old? If so and it is acting up, it is probably time to replace. Standard tank water heaters are built to last between 8 - 10 years.
- Rusty Water - If rust has formed in your pipes, it can be an easy fix. Rust in your tank, however, is another story. If the tank is rusting then it needs to be replaced.
- Noise - Banging or clanking sounds coming from your water heater could mean that sediment has built up in your tank and is clogging the flow of water. While flushing could eliminate the problem, if the sediment has hardened at the bottom of the tank, it will need to be replaced.
- Leaks - A pipe leak can be fixed, but a tank leak means a new water heater is necessary.

Some reasons your air conditioner could be blowing hot air include a few things you can troubleshoot yourself before calling in a technician:
- Is the thermostat set to ON? If so, change the setting to AUTO instead. If running on the ON setting, the unit cannot effectively make a complete cooling cycle and the air can feel warm.
- Is your air filter dirty? A dirty air filter can clog the circulation of cool air in your home. Replace the filter immediately.
- Is the circuit breaker tripped? An AC unit has an outdoor and indoor circuit breaker. If the outdoor breaker has tripped the unit will continue to operate but not produce cool air. Reset the breaker if it has tripped. If it trips again you will need to consult a technician.
Have you checked out these items but your home is still not cooling? If that is the case, it is probably time to call in a technician. For expert AC repair services, Chrome Heating Air & Plumbing will deliver! Contact us now for reliable affordable repair services! Residential service call in Richardson & found the Icomfort thermostat blank and would not boot up. Checked equipment and found that system can operate with a regular thermostat. Found that the wire going to the thermostat is only a four wire and with system having two stages of heat and cooling thermostat needs 7 wires to get full functionality of equipment.
