AC, Heating & Plumbing Service FAQs

How much does it cost to fix my home air conditioner near Fairview?

AC repair costs $150 to $650 on average near Fairview, TX depending on the problem, labor, and the status of the AC unit's warranty. Large or complex air conditioner repairs can range from $650 to $2,500 or more if they are out of warranty. Always check the manufacturer’s warranty to make sure you save as much as you possibly can on repairs.

AC refrigerant leak detection and replenishment are two other common repairs. The average cost to locate, repair, and replenish the Freon is $200 to $1,500. The cost of repairing a refrigerant leak is determined by the severity of the leak, the method used to detect it, the replacement parts required, refrigerant prices, and the location of the HVAC. An AC leak detection test ranges in price from $100 to $330.

What do I do if my home AC unit isn't blowing cold air near Fairview?

It's possible that your thermostat is set to "on" instead of "auto" if you've noticed your air conditioner is not cooling.  When the fan is set to "on," it runs constantly even when no air is being cooled. Set your thermostat to "auto" and see what happens. Also, ensure that it is set to cool. Many times, a human error occurs, and the thermostat is set to heat rather than cool.

A dirty air filter is another common cause of your air conditioner not cooling. The air filter removes particles from the interior air supply, but when it is full, less air passes through. When this occurs, your system will have less air to condition. For example, your thermostat may read 74 degrees Fahrenheit, but the temperature will not fall below 80 degrees. A clogged air filter may also cause your evaporator coil to freeze. When it freezes, it solidifies into a block of ice, preventing any cool air from entering your home. Replace your air filter every three months, or sooner if it appears dirty.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace a water heater near Fairview?

If your water heater is approaching the end of its 10 to 13-year lifespan, it's most likely time to replace it.  The latest models are up to 20% more efficient, saving hundreds of dollars in energy costs over the life of the unit. However, if your water heater is only a few years old, repair may be the best option.

Attempted to locate water leak in yard. Pumped out all water and turned water on at meter. Meter is not turning and functions properly when hose bib in use. This leak is potentially on the city side. After city utilities department inspected their side they stood firm it was customer side leak. I further investigated ground water source and installed gauge on hose bib. After pressuring system I turned meter off and gauge held 70 for over 30 min. In conclusion, this water leak is from the cities source.

Upon arrival inspected inside unit and found that the system had a clogged drain line and was activating the float switch. System had a bad clog and was able to clear clog by blowing back from the sink. Blew drain one more time from the top and clog had been cleared, seeing how much trash is in the line recommended replacing drain line for system. Also recommended cleaning outdoor coil.
